Komiljon To‘htayev: “The Most Important Thing Is to Finish the Course as Fast and Clean as Possible”
As the Harbin 2025 Asian Winter Games draw near, hopes are high for Uzbekistan’s alpine skiing team — especially for two-time Olympian Komiljon To‘htayev, who is currently putting in his final preparations in Italy.
– How is your preparation for the upcoming Games going?
— This is a new chapter in my career. The training is going well, and I’m focusing on maintaining balance after every turn so I can accelerate more effectively. Right now, that’s the key area I’m working on.
– What goals have you set for yourself in Harbin?
— I believe there’s a real chance to make it onto the podium at the Asian Winter Games. But as we know, nothing is guaranteed in sports. The most important thing is to complete the course as fast as possible and without mistakes. If a skier manages to do both, they greatly improve their chances of winning a medal.
– Who do you see as your main rivals in the race for medals?
— It’s been a while since I last competed in East Asian countries, so I don’t have much information about many of the current athletes. But based on the level of development of alpine skiing in the region, I expect South Korea and Japan to be the main contenders.
With his experience, determination, and focused preparation, To‘htayev is shaping up to be one of Uzbekistan’s top medal hopes at Harbin 2025.
